MARCH FOR LIFE 2011 - HILO

WHEN: Monday, January 24, 2011 3-5:30pm

WHERE: Kilauea & Aupuni (new courthouse)

WHY: To pray for our nation in this 38th year of ROE V WADE

WHAT: This "holocaust by scalpel" that has seen an entire class of human beings (over 50,000,000) wiped out because they are 'inconvenient' to other members of society

The MARCH FOR LIFE is the collective effort of grassroots prolife Americans to assure that our laws protect the right to life of each human being. An important step is adoption of a Mandatory HUMAN LIFE AMENDMENT to the Constitution of the United States. Such an amendment would require that individuals and society provide protection for the right to life of each human being in existence at fertilization. It would require that State laws conform to the Constitution and provide the same protection.

About Us

Late in October 1973, grassroots prolife leaders became concerned that January 22, 1974, might come and go without properly memorializing the Supreme Court's infamous abortion decisions and without petitioning Congress for redress.

No established right-to-life organization was prepared to undertake the planning, financial and operational responsibilities for a high impact prolife March on the U.S. Capitol. But, grassroots prolifers wanted to march! About thirty prolife veterans resolved themselves into a committee and began making plans for the first March for Life.

On January 22, 1974, the first March for Life was held on the West Steps of the Capitol. An estimated 20,000 committed prolife Americans rallied that day on behalf of our preborn brothers and sisters.

In 1974, the March for Life was incorporated as a non-profit, non-partisan, non-sectarian organization.

Our numbers have gradually risen through the years despite reduced numbers from the snow in 2000 and the terrible 9/11 attacks just months before the March 2002. These growing numbers give testimony to the increasing ranks of prolife Americans and to the importance of the March's work.

LIFE PRINCIPLES

Knowing that no sound action can grow out of a vacuum of purpose, March for Life formulated the Life Principles as a forthright, comprehensive statement of the position motivating the prolife movement.

These Life Principles serve as the basis for prolife moral and legal theory by which the American people can overturn
